About Me

                                                                                                                ~ My Family ~ July 2018

My name is Mrs. Shelly Travaglianti, but the students all call me “Mrs. T”.  I am comfortable being addressed like this by both students and parents, so please feel free to address me this way if you choose.  This will be my third year teaching first grade at St. Barnabas School.  Though I graduated many years ago from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, teaching is a fairly new career for me.  I graduated in May 2015 with my Master of Arts in Education, along with my Reading Endorsement, from Ursuline College and I am licensed to teach pre-K-3rd grade.

I was raised in Stow, OH, where my parents still reside, and I am fortunate to have much of my family located locally.  My husband Mark and I have three children, Shelby, Luke, and Gina.  Shelby will be a freshman at the University of Toledo, Luke will be a junior at Walsh Jesuit High School, and Gina will be a freshman.  We live in Macedonia and are members of this Parish.

I am thrilled and privileged to be teaching your child this year. My number one priority is the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of each child in this classroom. My goal is to provide an environment where each child can thrive and succeed, while feeling safe, happy, and loved! Academically, the lessons will be challenging, creative, and engaging, and will incorporate all learning styles to ensure the success of all.  I have high expectations for your child and you should too!

I consider my student’s parents to be essential partners in their child’s education. I encourage parent involvement and will make every effort to keep you informed and involved in all aspects of your child’s educational experience. In any successful relationship communication is critical, so please know you may contact me at anytime with questions or concerns.

Finally, please know it won’t be all work and no play in Room 101.  Children learn best when they are relaxed, engaged, and having fun.  We will laugh, sing songs, dance, and be silly- A LOT.  Thank you for choosing to send your child to St. Barnabas School.
